Quick Answers for Your How I Roll
What outfits work best for actors headshots?
Solid plain tops are great. Jackets definitely add a layer of structure and character. Bright colors, soft tones, patterns and accessories are all great! You wanna think through what kinds of characters do you want to be cast as. Bring outfits that pitch you as various characters and looks as well as your favourites that you know always get compliments!
What's the difference between studio & outdoor shoots?
Studio shoots are great for: plain colored studio backgrounds and studio lighting. Singers love a studio look which is also great for show poster artwork where you need a plain background. Studio lighting is more staged and structured. For formal suits and gowns studio looks can really pop!
Outdoor natural light is honestly my preference for relaxed actors headshots. We can get a huge range of various backgrounds in just a small space out in the real world. I also find it looks more "real" when your background is a real environment rather than a plain wall. The only limitation is lack of changing area, so we tend to ninja change in the streets and prepare undergarments accordingly.
When will I receive my photos?
I do all my retouching and photo processing myself, by hand. Typically, your online gallery is delivered within 2 weeks after the shoot. Then after your order is placed, I can usually get it retouched and back to you within 2 weeks, based on current workload. As I always say - if you need something urgent, just let me know and I'll knock it out for you by skipping the production line.
What Aussie cities do you shoot in?
Being based in NYC these days, I regularly shoot in Sydney & Melbourne when I travel to Australia to visit family in Newcastle NSW. Occasionally Brisbane, Canberra and other Aussie cities do get scheduled and requests for any city are welcome. Gathering committed interest in theatre groups or a minimum of 6 people is usually enough to get me on a plane for the day.

Will I get both black and white and color photos
Absolutely! For every image you order, I include the color and B&W versions, as well as 8x10 and fullframe crops, highres for print and lowres for web files and social media versions with my signatures.
What about Hair & Makeup?
For the gents, I don't recommend wearing ANY makeup for the photo shoot. The camera gets so close and it's often too visible.
For the ladies, you are very welcome to prepare your own hair and makeup, or you can choose to book my preferred stylist whom you can pay $250 on the day, for the hair and makeup (including changes).
